Independence Day celebrates the signing of our Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and were no longer part of the British Empire. The Congress actually voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2.

Independence Day is commonly associated with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, and political speeches and ceremonies, in addition to various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States. Independence Day is the National Day of the United States.

Concrete roofs are fire resistant, but how credible are roof tile companies when they say that these roofs resist fire? Actually, there is this thing called fire rating system applied to roofing materials. Class A rating means that the roof can withstand extreme exposure to fire that comes from sources outside the building. Class B rated roofs are those that can only resist moderate exposure to fire that comes from an outside source. Today, Sunday, May 8th is Mothers Day 2022. Why do we celebrate Mothers Day? For “the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world” – Anna Jarvis. The US holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church has an International Mother’s Day Shrine now to remember. Her campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. The mother, Ann Jarvis, had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War. Ann created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers.
